Althea Waites, Concert Pianist

Concert pianist extraordinaire and keyboard faculty member at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music, Althea Waites, will present a concert featuring some of her favorite piano works.

Internationally acclaimed American pianist Althea Waites has concertized extensively throughout the United States, Europe and Asia as a brilliant soloist, chamber musician, and collaborative artist. In addition to performances on concert stages around the world, she has also participated in numerous festivals as a soloist, collaborative pianist, and ensemble coach, including Aspen, Tanglewood, the Yale Summer Festival, the Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival and the Idyllwild Arts Festival in Southern California.

Quintessential Winds

The Quintessential Winds is a freelancing wind quintet in the Los Angeles area.  Originally under the mentorship of Dr. John Barcellona, flutist of the Westwood Wind Quintet, Quintessential Winds developed its national reputation. Recently, the quintet has worked with notable Los Angeles recording artists James Decker, Joseph Stone, and Larry Kaplan. Their ever-expanding repertoire includes standard wind quintet literature, dozens of transcriptions and arrangements, and the original compositions of many notable living composers including Adriana Verdie, Laura Kramer, Philip Sink, and film/world music composer Christopher Caliendo. The members of Quintessential Winds are also performing and teaching artists for the iVasi video conductor system.
